Ian Taylor, who worked as senior audio developer on RuneScape, has admitted to assaulting a 13-year-old girl. As a result, the 53-year-old former Jagex employee was sentenced to 22 months in prison.

The incident happened last December, Cambridgeshire Police reported on August 19. However, it only came to light when the girl confided in a family member a few months later.

Taylor said that he was drunk and depressed when the assault happened. He showed remorse, saying that touching a girl was inappropriate. Taylor was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years.

Jagex told GamesIndustry.biz that Taylor was fired earlier this year after the circumstances of the allegations came to light. “We have conducted an internal review of the employee’s interactions with staff and any players he may have come into contact with during his time at Jagex,” the studio said. “We have found no evidence that might prompt further investigation at this time.”
