According to Italian outlet Multiplayer.it, Cyberpunk 2077 has sold a total of 15 million copies. This is including the previously reported 8 million pre-orders.
The figure came from an unnamed source, so it should be taken with a grain of salt until the official confirmation arrives. The initial data on the post-release sales is expected before the end of December.
Multiplayer’s source also claims that CD Projekt was well aware of the sorry state that the console versions of the game were in. Despite that, they deliberately decided to only send the PC versions to the press to ensure strong reviews at launch. Again, this is coming from an anonymous source.
However, the team behind review aggregator for video games OpenCritic has apparently come to the same conclusion. Hence, the following notice that they are only taking down in February 2021 when the Polish studio is hoping to have fixed the console versions of the game.
