PUBG Corp and its parent company Krafton are merging later this year. The PUBG dev team will continue to operate independently, while Krafton is taking over the game’s publishing and support.

According to Krafton CEO Kim Chang-han, the merger will enable the studio to focus on development.

“The announced consolidation will allow Krafton to create sustainable environments where each of our studios can focus on what they do best: development. With a gameplay-first mentality, we are confident that this system will lead to sustainable growth and the ability to develop distinguished products within particular genres.”

Three years ago, Krafton, then known as Bluehole, launched battle royale PUBG. The sucess of the game prompted the company to set up a subsidiary called PUBG Corp to handle development, publishing, and business development.
