Metacritic no longer allows users to submit reviews until at least 2 days after the game comes out.

The Switch port of Catherine Full Body, which was released on July 7, became one of the first titles that the new rule applied to. The title’s user reviews only appeared on the plartform today.

A retro-inspired 2D Action RPG CrossCode, on the other hand, debuted on PS4 today. Reviews from critics have already been posted, but users are asked to “come back to review it starting at 12:00pm PST on July 10.” Another message reads: “Please spend some time playing the game.”

The implementation of the new policy for user reviews follows the recent review-bombing of The Last of Us: Part II. The game came out on June 19 only to be immediately criticized by users who couldn’t have physically completed the game on the day of the release.
