In 2020, extended reality hardware and software revenues will bring in $6.3 billion, according to revised estimates by SuperData. That’s down from $7.7 billion the analytics firm previously projected.
The revision takes into account supply chain disruptions due to manufacturing facilities shutting down around the globe over COVID-19.
Specifically, Valve Index only sold 33,000 units in Q1 2020, which is a dramatic drop from 103,000 units sold in Q4 2019.
Long-term projections have also been revised. According to SuperData, the XR revenue will hit $12.2 billion by 2023 instead of$14.9 billion as previously projected.
