Kotaku sources reported that the studio Build a Rocket Boy has gone through another round of layoffs.

According to the publication, Build a Rocket Boy parted ways with approximately 170 employees in the past week, leaving the team with just 80 members.
The creators of MindsEye have not officially confirmed these figures; however, they align with the company’s plans. Recall that in March, Build a Rocket Boy co-head Mark Gerhard gave an interview to GamesBeat, where he expressed the desire to downsize the team to at least 100 people.
Notably, in the same interview, Gerhard mentioned that at its peak, the studio had over 800 employees. However, after the failure of MindsEye, several significant layoffs were necessary, leaving nearly no one from the once very large team. Given this trend, it’s hard to say for certain that Build a Rocket Boy won’t downsize even more in the future.
The new layoffs at Build a Rocket Boy occurred shortly after a group of studio employees filed a lawsuit against the management, accusing the top executives of spying and violating privacy rights.
