- According to Circana’s estimates, in May, U.S. residents spent $4.18 billion on video games, hardware, and accessories. Compared to May 2025, their spending increased by 3%.
- Traditionally, the overwhelming portion of this amount was spent on video games — $3.76 billion, which is a 1% increase year-over-year.
- The sales chart for games was half-filled with new releases. Specifically, new games occupied the top four spots: 007 First Light, Forza Horizon 6, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, and Subnautica 2. Further down, in eighth place, was Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
- Sales of gaming hardware in May increased by 38% to $249 million. The bestselling item of the month, in terms of both dollars and units sold, was the Nintendo Switch 2.
- Sales of gaming accessories totaled $168 million, marking an 8% growth.
