The dispute over the plagiarism of the Horizon game series has been resolved.

Light of Motiram

A representative from Tencent told The Verge that the companies have reached a “confidential resolution”. He avoided giving details and emphasized that neither Tencent nor Sony will make any further public comments on the matter.

The terms of the deal are undisclosed, but it’s likely that Sony persuaded the Chinese giant to take some action regarding Light of Motiram. As noted by The Verge, the game’s pages have vanished from Steam and the Epic Games Store. Apparently, the developers have decided either to cancel Light of Motiram or to make changes to make it less similar to Horizon.

However, there’s another explanation for Light of Motiram disappearing from the stores. At the beginning of December, it became known that Tencent agreed to stop promoting the game during the proceedings with Sony. Nevertheless, it remains unclear why Light of Motiram was only removed from Steam and the Epic Games Store now that the conflict has been resolved.

Sony filed a lawsuit against Tencent in July 2025, accusing it of copyright infringement. Sony called Light of Motiram a “blatant copy” of the Horizon series games and demanded the distribution of the project be ceased. In turn, Tencent claimed that Light of Motiram merely used established ideas and imagery.
