Sony’s strategy to bring its first-party games to PC is paying off. Here is how the ports of Marvel’s Spider-Man, God of War, and other titles boost sales of PlayStation exclusives.

Amid the new wave of conversations about the cancellation of Days Gone 2, game director Jeff Ross has talked about his vision for a potential sequel.

Although Biomutant was met with mixed reviews, the game showed a strong debut on the Steam chart. It took over the first two places, all thanks to the title’s strong pre-orders.

Days Gone, a former PlayStation exclusive, was released on PC on May 18. The game has become a new chart leader on Steam, attracting over 27,000 concurrent players at peak.

Days Gone creative director and writer John Garvin attributes the cancellation of the sequel to the mixed reviews the game received. In the meantime, over 47,000 people have signed the petition for a Days Gone sequel on Change.org.

Sony’s decision to focus on AAA games and to almost stop supporting smaller games and studios might be a good business move. However, this strategy has already led to staff turnover, Days Gone 2 rejection, and other internal issues.

Days Gone will become the next PlayStation exclusive to be released on PC. Sony wants to expand its audience, but there are a few other reasons for the company to bring its games outside its platform.
