Lords of the Fallen has been a commercial success for publisher CI Games. The company has now shared its ambitious revenue target for the game.

Lords of the Fallen expected to generate $100 million in net revenue, according to publisher CI Games

On November 29, CI Games president Marek Tymiński announced that Lords of the Fallen is one of the main IPs the company wants to develop. “Our current ambitious goal is to achieve $100 million in reported net revenue from sales of this title in the coming years,” he said.

Given this target, CI Games expects Lords of the Fallen to be one of its main revenue drivers. It sold over 1 million in its first 10 days, making the $100 million mark seem pretty achievable in the long run.

According to Tymiński, “interest in the game is growing.” However, player reception remains mixed, with only 60% of the 17,180 user reviews on Steam being positive. Developer Hexworks has been trying to fix the situation by releasing multiple patching and planning to further support the game.

Despite mixed reviews, Lords of the Fallen performed quite well for a game in the Soulslike genre, peaking at over 43k concurrent players on Steam at launch. For comparison, Lies of P, Newoiz’s Pinocchio-inspired soulslike that also surpassed 1 million units sold, had a peak CCU of 19.6k.

Last month, CI Games revealed that Lords of the Fallen’s total budget amounted to $66.6 million. This includes both development and marketing costs of $42 million and $19 million respectively.

The costs of the marketing campaign for Lords of the Fallen were one of the factors behind an operating loss of PLN 1.7 million ($425k) that CI Games recorded in the first three quarters of 2023. However, the company’s consolidated revenue grew 43% year-over-year during the period, to PLN 59.1 million ($14.8 million).

Boxed sales of Lords of the Fallen accounted for 49% of the total, followed by Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 (24%) and games in United Label’s portfolio (11%).

CI Games currently has several titles in development. Lords of the Fallen maker Hexworks is working on a new AAA action-RPG codenamed Project 3 that is expected to launch in 2024. Underdog Studio, another of the publisher’s in-house teams, is making Project Survive, a brand new IP made with Unreal Engine 5.
