Playwind Games has closed a $4 million funding round led by Garena. The Free Fire creator is now stepping into the space of casual mobile titles with a social focus.

Free Fire, which is one of the highest-grossing mobile battle royales globally, has reached a new record. The game’s peak daily active users surpassed 150 million in the second quarter.

Garena’s mobile battle royale Free Fire has surpassed 1 billion in lifetime downloads on Google Play alone. It’s worth noting that it’s the first game in this genre to reach this milestone.

Garena’s valuation has grown from $1 billion to $23 billion over the last six years.

The creators of the popular battle royale Garena: Free Fire purchased Phoenix Labs. The studio developed the free-to-play action Dauntless.
