BioWare has announced a team restructuring, which includes job cuts. Although the studio ensures that this move won’t affect the development of Dragon Age and Mass Effect, some of its most experienced devs have been laid off.

Former Bioware executive producer Mark Darrah has tried to explain what Alpha means in game development, using Dragon Age: Dreadwolf as an example. He listed the distinctive features of this stage of production, also saying how much time usually passes between Alpha and launch.

BioWare has lost one of its key developers, as Matt Goldman decided to leave the studio. He has been working as the senior creative director of the Dragon Age series for the last few years and was directly involved in the development of Dragon Age 4.

Gary McKay has officially become the new general manager of BioWare. He started his career at Electronic Arts and was also development director of the FIFA series. Despite his experience in the games industry and promises to create big story-driven RPGs, some fans weren’t happy about McKay stepping in as new studio head.

The Game Awards creator Geoff Keighley said that BioWare willl be showing more of Dragon Age 4 at the show.
