Nintendo is yet to reveal the next Switch model, but insiders have already shared some information on the hardware.

Speaking to Bloomberg, game developers said that Nintendo has asked them to make their games 4K-ready, which likely indicates a resolution upgrade for the unannounced Switch model. In the meantime, the company is increasing the production of the existing Switch and Switch Lite models.

For this fiscal year, Nintendo wants its production partners to produce 30 million units, according to people familiar with the matter, up from 25 million the company asked in August. This is to keep up with the increased demand for the console driven by the success of Animal Crossing: New Horizons and the lockdown protocols.

To achieve that, factories are now working at 120%. Production, in general, has restored after coronavirus- related setback early in the year.

The upgraded version of Switch will launchin 2021 along with the strong lineup of games.

The launch of the next-gen Xbox and PlayStation, according to the analysts, is unlikely to affect the Switch sales.
